Swing was created by two personal trainers, Luke Wilson and Rich Manaro, who saw a need for proper strength training in San Francisco. With over 25 years combined experience, working with various types of clients in their personal training practices, Luke and Rich noticed a common problem. Group exercise instructors weren’t teaching proper form and alignment. As a result hard working individuals looking to improve their strength and conditioning would end up with knee problems, spinal misalignments, shoulder impingements and poor movement patterns. At Swing, our main focus is you. We keep classes small, capping attendance at 10 people, so that we are able to provide more personal attention and instruction. Every coach is a certified personal trainer because proper education is paramount to the success of every student.
Meet SWING’s creators/coaches, two of the top Bay Area trainers.
Luke Wilson has been at the forefront of the fitness industry for over a decade. He started his fitness career in 2001 in Santa Barbara, California, and in 2011, opened his first gym, PUSH Athletics in San Francisco. Working closely with many of the city’s elite trainers, Luke has shared and expanded his knowledge to help mold over 500+ clients.
Luke has earned a BS in Kinesiology, is a ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, CSCS, retains certifications in HKC (Hardstyle Kettlebell Training), RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification) Level 1 and 2, functional strength trainer (IHP), yoga instructor, boxing instructor (Prime Time Boxing), martial artist (Eskabo Daan), trigger-point therapist and myofascial release practitioner.
Rich Manaro, an elite-level college athlete, followed his passion for fitness by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer in 2008. A stint as the full-time strength and conditioning intern coach at the University of San Diego provided him a deep understanding of team-style training and specialized injury rehab progressions. Building his knowledge and experience with stops at The Sporting Club (La Jolla) and Equinox (San Francisco), Rich started his own personal training business in 2013.
Rich has a BS in Kinesiology and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist. His other certifications include RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification) II, FMS (Functional Movement Screen) Level II, TRX Kettlebell Level 1, and MAT (Muscle Activation Techniques).
